Thinking about making a trip up to Minnewaska the end of January. Any thoughts/predictions of what this winter will bring?
A ton of pressure in the usual spots once there is 12″-14″ of ice. Walleyes will be scattered as usual; some guys will be on them, some wont, pike and bass will be active during the day anywhere near the schools of 3″-5″ perch. Bluegills will be tough to pattern, and once you think you have them figured out, they’ll shut down. Crappies will be ghosts most of the winter.
I think that sums up most of every ice season for the past 25 years that I’ve fished it.
