Very good response by Cousins and the whole team. My gut tells me that Zimmer finally let Stefanski and Cousins have some freedom. That, and add a chip on Cousins shoulder lit the fire.

I said a couple pages ago that they needed to win the next 4 straight and they are 1 win away from that happening (and they should easily beat Washington)

Still would like to see them beat a good team, and do it in a prime time spot, before I get too excited.

This is what I have been saying. I think the play calling was horrible for Cousins since they signed him until the Giants game. They are finally using him the way Washington was using him when he was playing at his best. Now we are seeing what he can do with the weapons he has around him.

Big Werm, I’ve been a Cousins backer this whole time. I just had to remove myself from all media outlets while we were in the basement with him. The man can play. Let’s hope he can ride this regained confidence and harness it in big games against good teams.

PS. We could start Manion and beat the Redskins. ALSO heard a stat today that after they run on 1st down, they are at 19 yards per pass on the next play. That’s ridiculous.

Our schedule is looking a bit softer than it initially did at the start of the season, so the Vikes have a very real chance to be a 10-12 win team.

Of course, we could always crap the bed, but if we could win 2 of our remaining 4 road games(Chiefs, Chargers, Cowboys, Seahawks), we’ll be in great shape.

I think they should win the first two. Mahomes doesn’t sound like he’s going to be ready (as of now) and the Chargers are dumpster fire. Then it depends on which version of the Cowboys and Seahawks show up.

It’s tough to say, Cowboys looked decent yesterday(or did the Eagles look bad?). If I had more faith in our team in big road games, I’d say we have a great shot at 3-0 in that stretch, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if we go 1-2.

For those thinking the Vikes look decent lately, or for those that simply enjoy facts and/or context, I read yesterday that the Vikings have had more overall yards over the last 3 games than any 3 consecutive games during the 1998 season.

Vikes favored by 16. Playing at home against a 1-6 team. Man, seen this game a hundred times….. Classic set up for a loss. doah

If I was in Vegas, I’d be taking the Skins to cover. shock

Huge spread, but the Skins are an absolute circus this year with carney level talent. Might be tough to cover that spread with a conservative game plan (which I expect) though.

They will be calling it the Minneapolis Massacre if Keenum comes in here and shows the Vikes why he should never have been traded. You heard it here first…. coffee

Just to be safe I’m going to watch the game sitting on the couch with a Corona in one hand and a brick in the other.

    lol

So far we’ve dodged a bullet already with Diggs lazy a*& fumbling again. Cousins is getting a lot of pressure and so far is handling it pretty well. Hopefully the O line picks up their game a little.

Zimmer is getting the shakes lol

Glad to see a competitive game so far.

From the looks of it, whoever wins the turnover battle will win the game.

“Speak softly and carry a big stick” -Theodore Roosevelt

“Talk low, talk slow, and don’t say too much” -John Wayne

Diggs could heed some of this advice. If you’re gonna cause that much drama a few weeks ago, skip practices, and air your dirty laundry in public, you better answer the call when it’s your turn, not drop touchdowns and fumble the ball.

Ya. Why when he was good he was always hurt. I hope they fake an ankle injury on him or something.

The Skins need to defend the screens better or the Vikings will pull away fast…..

Why the Vikings haven’t saved more clock right now could bite them before the half…..

Wasn’t pretty but still a pretty easy W. Another good game from Cousins and the offense. If it wasn’t for all the holding penalties in the redzone the scoreboard would’ve indicated it more.

I didn’t think they looked as good as they have the past 3 weeks. But against the atrocious Redskins with an unproven rookie caught in the headlights during the second half, all they had to do was kick FGs and chew up clock to win. They’re lucky Keenum got hurt. He was carving them up pretty good in the first half. Adrian ran pretty good for a 34 year old back too.

It looked like he was trying everything he could to get out of that game last night…most players fight with the refs or trainers when they make the player come out of the game to get checked over, Rhodes literally ran off the field and jumped on the table under the tent…sad

Now that we have Holton Hill coming back, I’m really hoping that Zimmer makes the RIGHT decision and works towards Hill/Hughes/Waynes being the starters. Rhodes looks absolutely lost out there, and a LONG way from how he played a couple seasons ago when he was shutting down everyone’s #1 receivers. The time has come, no point in letting him sit in there and get beat and/or draw penalties.

Also, Elflein needs to figure his game out, and quick! That DL Ioannidas (spelling) for Washington was absolutely manhandling him last night.

On a positive not, Dalvin was absolutely magical to watch. Growing up watching AP, it is really exciting to be moving into another dominant (although different) RB. Whereas AP would make those one or two jump cuts and then just out-hustle everyone around the edge into space, Dalvin seems to see the holes better and have a little more patience.

Cook is just so silky smooth and is able to go into 5th gear without looking like he’s running harder if that makes sense, players think they have the angle on him and he just blows right by…he just needs to stay healthy and he’ll do great things..

Not sure what the deal is with Rhodes, I feel like he doesn’t show up against what he considers lesser WR’s. And the whole injury after giving up a pass is comical at this point, but I don’t think he had a choice last night I believe the refs sent him off for concussion protocol. Offense looked good 434 yards, but shot themselves in the foot on too many drives with penalties and the Diggs fumble to really stretch the score out. Didn’t punt once though. Defense was a little too lenient the first half but tightened up in the second like they usually do, so probably a combo of Keenum being out and their own adjustments. Only gave up 216 yards and no TD’s so can’t really argue against that. Some very questionable calls both ways again unfortunately (Roughing on Cousins, the holds on Elflein). On to KC!!!

He’s somehow like the best version of Jerick McKinnon combined with Latavius Murray. McKinnon was a quick/shifty dude, but if he got touched behind the line the play was over. Murray ran downhill and could break a tackle or push a pile forward a couple yards, but he wasn’t going to make anyone miss in tight spaces.

Dalvin manages to do both of those things better than either of those guys. It’s amazing how many tackles he’s broke this year or how many times a play looks dead and he manages to make someone look silly in a tiny little window of space.

Except when we play Chicago, our entire team looks like a mediocre big 10 team when we play Chicago…

    Good to get the W

But agree with some of the assessment above. Kinda a boring game to watch actually. I can’t stand all the flags – refs need to back off on some of the holding BS and let both teams play. You’d think the NFL would get involved and not want to see a flag fest every game. Ruins the flow. Felt bad for Mattison a few times he had some awesome runs get called back on pretty questionable holding calls.

Other than the Diggs fumble…. sure glad we didn’t lose him… can’t wait to get Theilen back too, they are quite the combo.

The Vikings were lucky Keenum was out the entire second half.

A 10 point win at home against a 1-6 team with a second string QB (for 1/2 the game) was probably a little too close for Zimmer…..

They looked a lot better in the few weeks prior.
