As much as I’d love to see the Packers steal a win with countless bad calls against the Vikings in the NFC championship game…….I don’t see the North making an appearance.

Touch a nerve. laugh Fun and games, fun and games.

    Not at all mrgreen

Just poking at Vikes fans for saying the Packers magically get more calls for them than against them.

When some fans get a bad call go their way it’s crickets or defensive statements.

Every fan is biased for their team. Some much more than others.

A regular sports fan doesn’t care how a call (or no call) occurred, as long as it benefits their team.

A true sports fan steps back with an unbiased opinion and will admit that “Yep, that was a bad call (or no call) that went our way.”

    Which are you???

If you took the jersey colors and logos off, would it make a difference as to what you think on any given play?

(Rhetorical questions for all, not asking you specifically)

Like you, just poking fun but with less words. I think. peace

Having watched a few Saints games this season, they just laid a turd yesterday. The Vikings played well enough to beat a better team that didn’t play well that day. I’m not a fan of either team, just how I saw it.

Dang Dave, aside from the not a fan thing your on to being a convert. We gotcha yea don’t ya know. Soon you will get the accent down.

Don’t worry Werm, you get thru this weekend and you will hear plenty from us waytogo

If there’s a Vikings/Packers game for the NFC championship I don’t know that I could watch.

As for the game against the Saints, great win! Unbelievable how much they shut down their pass game. Holding Brees to 208 yards passing is quite a performance for the defense. I think the big difference I saw is that we were able to get pressure rushing 4 guys, Hunter and Griffen looked great, and we stopped the run game early.

I think if Zimmer can come up with a good scheme to contain George Kittle, we have a good shot this weekend!

why didn’t they even out possessions so that both teams get the ball at least once regardless of how the first team scores? Thus the coin toss winner would have no specific advantage because regardless of what possession the coin toss winner scores on, the other team would always get the ball to even out possessions

It’s possible to redo OT rules to allow each team a possession. However, it would completely change the dynamic of OT. No longer would you take the ball first. If you take the ball 2nd, and hold the opposing team on their half of the field, force them to punt, get punt at 20 yard line, you now only have to go 40 yards to set up a 57 yard game winning FG. The team with possession first would essentially be playing normal 3 down football (punting on 4th), while the team with possession 2nd would be playing 4 down football and going for it on 4th down if the 1st team did score.

Sounds vaguely similar to the nhl shootout. No thanks.

Remember, both teams are on the field. Offense and a defense. If the defense can’t make a stop, do they deserve to play on?

I’d support a full period of play before we start tweaking the rules so much that it doesn’t resemble a real game.

Agreed, Zim and the Vikes have been historically, and this year as well, very good against TE’s. The 9ers DL is so good, they could shut down the offense which is my biggest concern, but I think this is a good matchup for the purple. They have the no one believes in us mentality going and San Fran was not playing it’s best football down the stretch.

I think the one exception I can think of off the top of my head was our game against the Rams last year, Cooper Kupp burned us that entire game. But that was also when Anthony Barr seemed to be ‘off’, and I feel like Kendricks is playing better this year too.

Yup, just looked, Kupp had 9 receptions, 162 yards and 2 TDs. Ouch!

Kupp isn’t a TE though, he’s a slot WR that we have struggled against until Alexander seemed to put it together, and I believe was out with an injury that game (and sounds like he will be out again this week). Sendejo played well in the slot against NO too.

That’s just NFL fandom in general, except for GB of course since A-a-Ron can’t be touched without penalty and there’s due to be 2-3 phantom PI’s or Defensive Holdings that go GB’s way… rotflol rotflol rotflol

In 2018 George Kittle had 5 catches for 90 yards against the Vikings. I can recall another where he was wide open and Jimmy G barely missed him for what I think would have been like a 70 yard TD. Kittle dominated that game.

An argument could be made that Kittle is the best overall football player in the NFL. Not MVP, because a TE isn’t necessarily of “most value” as some positions, but the best all around, position for position, football player there is.

Being the jaded viking fan I am this is how predict things to go. This game against the Saints I thought they had no chance to win so my hope was at like 5%. This week I am up to 50%. When they win this week and face the Packers for the NFC championship i will be 100% in again. They will then choke preferably in grand fashion once again. I will disown them for the 17th time until cycle repeats itself.

Kittle is a beast no doubt, and I’m sure they will focus a lot of attention on him. However, Cook for NO was having a monster year, especially down the stretch and he was basically a non-factor (5 for 54 and 0 Td’s). Also the Vikings are #2 best Defense against TE’s this year, giving up just 84 catches for 786 yards and 1 TD this whole year.

While I do think the toughest test (New Orleans) is out of the way, to ask any team in the league to win 3 games in a row at New Orleans, at San Francisco, at Green Bay/Seattle is a nearly impossible task. More than likely one of those 3 just simply isn’t going to go your way. And then you happen to win those 3, now you have to go beat Baltimore in the Super Bowl. That’s a brutal 4 game stretch for any team to go 4-0 through. But crazier things have happened before.

The Chiefs could beat the Ravens. They actually beat them in week 2. I don’t see the Titans doing it and I don’t see the Texans beating the Chiefs, but Kansas City definitely has the offensive firepower to keep up with Baltimore.

In recent memory, the 2005 Steelers were the 6th seed and beat the Seahawks in the SB, and the 2007 Giants were the #5 seed when they beat the undefeated Patriots. And the 2010 Giants won their division with a 9-7 record and won the SB.

It’s not impossible but I agree, the Vikings certainly do have a tall task ahead of them.

How banged up is Minnesota? The 9ers were decimated with injuries the second half of the season and are getting some guys back for this game. I’m not sure at what percentage they all are but the bye definitely helped. The 9ers DB’s are still in bad shape so the passing game will or should be open.

Titans are a sneaky scary team I think. I don’t expect them to win out, but Derrick Henry is straight up dominating.

    He’s averaging 154 yards/game in the last 7 games, including games of 211, 188 and 186.

I think back to our game against Seattle and how incredibly hard it was to try and fight back in that game when they’d run the ball for 7-8 yards on 1st down every friggin’ time.

That said, they have an even tougher road to the super bowl:
    Away at Patriots
    Away at Ravens
    Away at Chiefs(probably)

Brees got his completions and didn’t play horribly, the thing the Vikings did well was tackle, keep everything in front of them and allow very little RAC.

They definitely could, I feel like the Chiefs and Ravens are the only 2 SB teams out of the AFC. While any remaining team in the NFC could be a SB team.

The Packers in 2010 or 2011, whenever that was, won the SB as a #6. In the last 4 or 5 years, every team that has made the SB has been a #1 or #2.

I hate to burst everyone’s bubble but since 2013 wild card teams are 10-6 in the first round, in the second round they are winless. 6 seeds have only a 3% chance of winning a super bowl. It will not happen for the vikes.
