Very interesting! Some of those fish travel a LONG ways. Thanks for sharing BK!

There was a time that I thought most fish just moved from deeper to shallow water. Or upstream and stopped at a dam…

The DNR’s work proves they move a heck of a long ways, damn the dams!

Continuous season for channels. Not for Flatheads. The catfish workshop group is working to get them listed separately.

As far as eating them out of the MN River…good! We have many folk that would like to make the whole river catch and release only. )

To be fair I wouldn’t eat catfish anywhere in MN, unless I had to. I was referring to the delicious and challenging to catch walleye and crappie, specifically from the MN River. jester

This comment got me to remembering back some 30 years ago when my young family would make a day trip from Madison to Prairie Du Chien for local Mississippi river cats. Local (commercial licensed) fisherman would sell them around town. They (the catfish) were about 1-3 lb. fish dressed. Out of curiosity I googled and found this currently still operating. Ritter’s Fish Market. Sorry to make BK and any other’s squirm, even this makes me cringe somewhat but I found it somewhat interesting…
