Anyone know of any good walleye lakes to camp on in Minnesota where the campers are close to lake and your able to leave boats in water? Would be ideal to have good kid stuff to also.

Rainy Lake RV resort is right on a channel of the lake. They have a playground for kids and the city beach for swimming is nearby also. 218-288-1130

Lakeshore RV Park in Ortonville is on Big Stone Lake. Good walleye and panfish, pool for the kids, really nice folks run it.

I haven’t been there in years, but my buddies and I used to go to Silver Rapids Lodge in Ely every year (White Iron Lake and Kawishiwi river connecting Farm and Garden Lakes). They have great camping site options, it’s crazy cheap (at least it used to be), you have dock access and you also have access to the resort amenities like a bathrooms/showers, Lodge, Bar/Grill etc.

I know the resort has been in the news lately because they want to greatly expand it into a Grand View lodge type of thing – which is sort of a polarizing issue up there. But I believe it’s still business as usual until they get that figured out. Give them a look. Great fishing! They also have a beach/swim platforms etc for kids.

Otherwise, if you want to rough it a little more. go with Kab or Namakan in Voyaguers. Just book a boat-in site and you’re golden if you don’t mind beaching your rig.

I stayed at this place for a couple of days about 4+ years ago. I believe it was fairly new place then and they were expanding. Yes, they are located on a channel which gave you fairly quick access to the lake. The channel also gave you a pretty calm area for boats docked.

If my memory is correct, the banks leading up to the water edge were a bit steep and would not allow for children to play in the water. I do not think that it has a view of the main lake. These may or may not be desires of yours.

Nearly all the big lakes have at least a few options. Where are you interested in? Name a lake or area and that would help narrow it down.

Yes there would be no playing in the channel. Thats why I mentioned their playground and swimming beach in town.
