Looking for some help or suggestions guys on where to go the 1st week of October up around Grand Rapids. We usually meet the sister in-law in Red Wing that time of year but have decided to go up to their place this year. I’ve fished a little up there but not much. Walleye or panfish it doesn’t matter. I’ve been on Winnie once any help would be great.

Where to start.????? Tons of lakes. Many options. Lake pokegema in rapids has smallies that look like footballs huge eyes if ya can find them. Endless lakes and species.

Back in the day we had a cabin on Johnson lake. We caught big crappies back then. Also a friend would take me to a lake called lucky lake. And we would catch rainbow trout like crazy. Good luck.

Pokegama is a great mulit-species lake. Troll or cast the weedlines 12 to 15 feet and you never know what you will catch, pike, walleye, bass (both largemouth and smallmouth). Anywhere you find cabbage you will find fish. Bowstring and Sand north of Deer River are both good options as well all nice sized lakes without having to worry too much about wind. Have fun and good luck.
