I have a 2004 24v 65lb minn kota vector transom mount that is the fixed 5 speed version. I would like to convert it to a variable speed, looking through the minn kota part schematics it looks like i should be able to remove the 5 speed switch and replace it with the control board used in the variable speed 3x steering model from the same year,minnkota part number 2884061, along with disconnecting the speed coils in the motor. Has anyone actually done this before? what other parts would be required? Thanks
