Minn Kota Ulterra Warning

I replaced my old Minn Kota Rip Tide this year with a Ulterra. Since my old motor had always worked fine, I ordered the same shaft length. Well, the motor body is about 6″ taller on the Ulterra, so, now it cavitates with every wake or ripple on the water. Unlike all other Minn Kota models, the shaft can not be changed to a longer or shorter shaft.

If you are contemplating an upgrade from your old Minn Kota, consider getting a shaft that is longer than your previous shaft to compensate for the additional motor height.

Good advice. Have you contacted Minnkota? Maybe there’s something they could do for you??? Always worth a shot.

I see that they are making longer than a 60″ shaft now, wish I knew that before I ordered mine when they first came out! (Was that the year before last already in June of 2015?)
