Minn Kota Terrova Quest Too Big For 16.5ft Boat?

I currently have a 80lb 24V Terrova 60” shaft MDI Ipilot Link trolling motor. I see the Quest series is on sale. Would a Terrova Quest 60” shaft trolling motor be too much power/too heavy for a 2022 Alumacraft Competitor Sport 165 boat? I have a lithium battery for my current trolling motor but I see if it’s not a Quest trolling motor that I shouldn’t be running it on any setting above 8.

Can you have too much power? ???

It only weighs 32lbs more. Everyone had the old version with lead acid batteries at some point and you have lithium which makes up the weight difference, probably still lighter overall.

On my boat (competitor 165) I wouldn’t spend $1800 or whatever they are just to run on 10 for long periods but that’s up to you.

I wouldn’t think you could have too much power.

That is probably true when it comes to having lithium instead of lead acid. I think more of my concern is regarding the additional weight of the Quest and the size of it since my vehicle has a max tongue weight rating of 350 lbs and the Alumacraft Competitor 165 has most of its storage up front.

Right now with the boat trailer level and current setup I can quick lift the tongue of the trailer and hold it up for a few mins.

And you do have a good point about the additional cost trying to justify being able to have slightly more thrust without upgrading the battery and being able to run on anything above speed 8. I could just get the upgrade kit for the head of the current trolling motor to get the additional features and remote to match the 2024+ non Quest Terrova’s
