    Hey everyone,

I have a Minn Kota PowerDrive 55lb thurst trolling motor and I’m having some problems. It will turn left just fine, but will not turn right. Wondering what could possibly be wrong with it, how to fix it, and what would be the easiest/cheapest way to fix it.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

The pedal on the power drives are notorious to fail. If you are using the pedal you can buy a replacement. If you are using a co pilot or i pilot then the unit will most likely need repair. If you know of someone that has a pedal or a remote you could try to see if that is the issue would be a quick way to figure things out.

I’m sure you’ve already checked it, but I have had this a couple of times and it was the cord was stuck under half the pedal so it couldn’t push down. I’ve also heard people say to rinse to pedal off in the lake. They are totally waterproof but sometimes the get sand or dirt inside that can be washed out easily.

Turn the pedal upside down and look for the white slider that activates the left-right turning switch. Spray it with WDS-40 or Armor-All and see if that helps. If not, you can pull the 3 springs that hold the top of the foot pedal on and do a thorough cleaning of the mechanism from the top side. I also took a belt sander to the underside of my top cover to taper it so it provides more travel.
