minn kota maxxum help

    I just got a minn kota maxxum 80 lbs thrust. It works great but I’m having trouble with the collar that holds it up. We use it for bowfishing so it needs to be right below the surface of the water but it keeps sliding down. We tightened the collar as tight as we could get it but we still had to stop and slide it up every 10 minutes. Did I forget to put a piece on that holds it up when we put it together or am I just doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    That doesn’t sound right. I’ve owned a few of the 80 maxx and never had an issue with the collar. Reasonably torqued by hand and they never moved – for yeas of use.

    There is a small piece of urethane pad inside the collar rings installed at the factory. I would check and see if that is missing.

    Is this supposed to be slid down to the bottom? If this was supposed to be slid down to by the collar then that’s what we were doing wrong

    Yes, that is what retains the height
