yes

Be aware that the contacts may relax again after some time
and may need to be bent again in the future.
Be tender as they are thin.
Avoid whacking the remote at all times.
You see what that did to Mikes remote.
These are not military grade remotes.
They are made to hit a price point.
If you prefer to whack your remote
you should probably have someone custom make you
a military grade remote.
Maybe Minn kota could make a better quality remote. My guess is that they learned from the co pilot remotes that if you make them crap you get continuous repeat remote sales. Even had the service guy tell me that when my copilot remote battery goes dead just buy a new remote. Minn kota has done another fine job of setting the bar low with this remote. Its good to see they made their price point and decided to throw quality aside. Who ever wants to buy quality anyways.
Same with the I-link remote design. It is rechargable. Great. But the battery only lasts at most 3/4 of a day. To me a day of fishing is 12 -14 hours on the water. I have several marine USB charge ports in my boat. Every chance get I plug it in to top it off. I sent Minnkota a question if there was a plan to offer a better battery upgrade replacement. Answer was no plans to offer that. You would think it could of been desinged to last for several days between charges.
Last year I had the same problem of going on and off, not always turning back on when needed, etc. The batteries were pretty new, but I replaced them anyways in the early spring. Never had any issues the rest of the year.
Tried energizeer batteries on mine with no luck. Tried bending out the battery contacts and the one snapped off.
Mike, I have a remote you could try if you’d like. (I think you asked if anyone had one). It has been used a year and never had a problem.
As per my previous post, was having intermittent problems using the remote, very similar to those described in many of these posts. Turned out to be a problem with the motor head. Instead of replacing only a board, Minn Kota replaced the entire head, still under warranty. The first time I realized I had a problem was after several issues last fall and again this spring.Took the remote to local service rep, and tried it on their motor, and worked fine, making us think it was an intermittent problem with the remote. When out on the water afterwards, wouldn’t work at all. Took my remote and the motor to the service rep, and bingo! Problem was the board in the motor head.
So a caution goes out to those thinking this intermittent problem lays with the remote, especially if you’re still under warranty.

So was your remote turning off? I have some issues with my i pilot where it does not always respond but the remote is always on.
