Just found a place that has 2 6.0 high output Milwaukee batteries for $150. Would these batteries suffice for the ice auger drill?

Where was it you found this deal? that is a incredible price

Ordered from Walmart online. Took quite a bit of time to receive them though as the typical USPS has a mishap apparently.

You are running on the slower speed setting right?
I’m realizing the electric auger isn’t such a great deal when suddenly I need $300 dollars worth of new batteries.
My old Honda strikemaster hasn’t needed any $300 repairs or upgrades, ever…….
I’m seriously considering going back to gas and parking my 24v instead of investing in new batteries.

Yes I’m running in slow speed as I always have. It timed out a couple times in the past, but now it’s doing it all the time. I’m definitely not impressed with Milwaukee cordless tools.

Ya thats the big downfall of electric augers in my eyes. Not only do you have to baby them keeping the batteries warm, there’s basically no repairing them – only option really is to spend more money on either a new battery or entire new unit. At least with gas augers, you can work on them and keep them running for years with minimal cash out the door. Biggest expense you’d be looking at is a new carb. I was up just outside the bwca earlier this winter when the Ion quick working for no reason. If it was a gas auger, probably could have tinkered with it and figured out what was going on and remedied the situation. With electric that isn’t an option.

I have about a dozen different milwaukee tools, mostly for automotive repair, impacts, ratchets, and drills. Never had a problem and I use them all day every day. I think the hardest thing in electrical tools is sitting. They need to be used regularly.

I purchased a used kit and the drill and skill saw are questionable at best. I realize they’re used, but after this auger drill failing as well I’m getting a bit Leary of the mighty Milwaukee reputation.

Jump over to the hilti side of the world, and you will never look back. That said, I’ve never had a complaint about any Milwaukee tools we had to use.

I’ve got a couple dozen Milwaukee tools, with no issues besides from my own stupidity. That drill should have a 5 year warranty. Go onto Milwaukee’s Eservice webpage and fill out the info to see if it still has the warranty. Doesn’t matter if you don’t have the original receipt, they will go off of the original build date then.

All I know is I just bought a 10″ Lite Flite drill and tested it out with my newest 12amp Forge battery on my 1200 inch pound Milwaukee (2804) drill and I drilled my (10) house holes thru 36″ of ice. It stalled a couple of times but that’s good because it was about to rip the side handle of the drill out of my hands. I see now that the newest Milwaukee (2903) series drills have 1400 inch pounds of torque so that tells me its time for me to buy that and retire my propane 10″ auger that I have been using for good.

I drilled close to (30) 8″ Lite Flite holes on Red last weekend thru 3′ of ice and and my 12 amp forge was still at 2 bars.

I was forwarded to a tool repair company by Milwaukee customer service. After speaking with the tool repair company they figured the drill is on its way out. Not cost effective to get it repaired either. It still drills great when it’s not on its own break time.
