Need help figuring out correct setting for my drill. I’ve had it a year, used it with a 6′ kDrill for about 2 months with no issues. Do you keep it on the drill or screw setting? Also, do I set it on 1 or the highest number ( I think it’s 22).Any suggestions appreciated.

With the kdrill there are a few settings to dial in.

The gear. Your drill should have a slide of some sort, likely with two gears (low/high). Usually 1 is low and 2 is high. You want it on the lower setting.

The type of drilling (drill, screw, or hammer). You want it on the drill setting.

The clutch setting (likely dial with 1-some number e.g. 22). When on the drill setting, my understanding is that it doesn’t matter what you set it to (1 or 22). That only comes into play with the screw setting because it limits the amount of torque the drill will put on a screw before disengaging (prevents burying the screw e.g. in drywall, or snapping/stripping the head).

    Drill setting for me!

I leave it at 24? I think that is the highest setting I honestly thing when you are in drill mode it does not make difference.

I have to google it several times each year. It is Drill and #1. Your drill will let you know rather fast if one of the settings is incorrect. It will make a sound like the chuck is slipping. I’ve had it happen more than once.

On my Milwaukee with 8 in Nils I set it on drill and lowest speed. I have added a throttle stop and spring return on my Clam plate so I can adjust the speed even more .
