I believe Fishwater was talking about this in another thread yesterday or today. Thread was “K Drill or Nils?”

I have a mke fuel impact driver 1/4in; can this be adapted to drill with nils augers? Most guys I see have the drill/driver but was hoping to make this work

I highly doubt it. The impact uses a rapid series of hits to loosen a fastener, but makes very little constant rotational torque. That is why you see them sold in sets where you buy a driver drill and an impact driver in the same case. That is how I bought mine. Now some guys use the hammer setting on their driver drill when augering, from my experience I think the non hammer drill setting works fine on my K-Drill. If you select the screw setting torque is limited and the clutch activates and allows the chuck to slip.

Spoke with a K-drill rep at the ice show about this same question and he told me that under no circumstances should you ever slap a k-drill on an impact. He said it would destroy it.

My buddy broke his drill the first time out years ago on his Milwaukee Fuel Drill the same way. I was the first to buy this drill among my friends for ice fishing. I have never had the need to use the handle. I just pinch the drill between my forearm and chest. I use my drill with a 6″ lazer. Use slow speed and drill mode with any issues

I debated between the Milwaukee or the Dewalt when I purchased a drill for ice augering. I went with the Dewalt because I felt the support handle on the Dewalt was a better set up.

I hope Milwaukee will stand behind this for you.
