Im having an issue where my chuck is slipping on the shaft of my Lite Flight. It is as tight as it goes but I cant drill a hole without it slipping. Anyone else have this issue? Do I have a bad chuck? Never had a problem with my kdrill and this drill.

Are you sure the chuck is slipping? I had a problem with my kdrill earlier this year where I thought the chuck was slipping and it turned out I had the Drill on the wrong settings. It sounded just like the chuck was slipping. On the Milwaukee there is a drill or screw setting – Make sure set to drill. There is also a speed setting 1 or 2. Make sure set to 1 – slowest speed.
December 27, 2019 at 1:20 pm #1900930I’m not sure that those are the correct settings for the lite flite or not. I know those are the recommended settings for the K-drill
December 27, 2019 at 4:58 pm #1900964Ive never had that problem with my Ridgid Octane and SM LF or Nils. Could be a chuck problem, but I doubt it. Id double check your settings. Setting 1, drill mode.
December 27, 2019 at 6:51 pm #1901006Yes. Set to drill on 1. I can see marks on the shaft of the drill from the teeth on the chuck spinning and some very small pieces of metal getting shaved. Im going to play wirh it tomorrow in the rain
FlyRockPosts: 8December 27, 2019 at 10:12 pm #1901065I just set mine up on Christmas Day and had the same issue when using it with the Milwaukee Fuel 18.
While testing in the house, it was slipping when twisting by hand. To get it to grip, I chose to grind off the lip on the end of the adapter and make it match the Hex shaft . The jaws on the drill are full length on the inside of the chuck, so there wasn’t any room for the lip. In other words, the jaws were never able to reach the Hex shaft because of the lip. It worked perfectly and did not slip at all after grinding to match the Hex shaft.
I also wrapped 1 – 2 layers of black tape around shaft that fits into auger to snug up that fitting.
Over all, I am super impressed with the performance of the combo, crazy fast.
Hope this helps.

Only minor issue is the allen bolt holding the adapter into the flite comes loose. Have the same problem with my 10″ lazer mag. Going to just loctite it and hope it holds.
Might pay to have an extra adapter and allen bolt in the tackle bag.December 28, 2019 at 1:23 pm #1901190Have about 100 holes on that combo and no problems yet.

December 28, 2019 at 4:27 pm #1901239Thanks for the info on the ring of the lite flite. I tried again this morning and I am pretty sure that is happening with my drill. After further review my Home Depot Fuel 18 only has a torque rating of 500 lbs. Im wondering if I got the correct HD fuel tool if my problem would be solved? My other option is to grind the ring off the auger knowing that I will eventually smoke my light duty drill anyway?
FlyRockPosts: 8December 28, 2019 at 9:22 pm #1901325You bet, efrommung. I found it a bit odd that the Lite Flite is often shown in marketing promotions with that exact drill, yet it doesn’t seem to be a common issue.
