What’s up with some resorts not allowing access without a season pass??

Is this primarily for individuals with wheel houses or all anglers in general??

Probably to keep the congestion off their roads.

They plow and maintain their road. While they technically can’t charge you once you are on the lake they can charge you to cross their property.

Free access off the public accesses and along the frontage road of 169. However don’t bother calling a resort if you need help.

Can almost guarantee you are not going to be able to drag a wheelhouse out of a public access this year. Plenty of resorts with daily passes.

Most of the resorts this was the first weekend that they were open to pulling out permanents and letting out wheelhouses. They limited it to just people with permanents or a season pass to let out of their access, next weekend everything should be open to the general public for wheelhouses, at least from the resorts posts I have seen stated this even on thursday to give everyone a heads up before making the drive.

If a resort can balance their books on a season pass I suppose they will. You can control how much work needs to be done and you can control who is going out on your plowed and maintained areas. Some resorts may not be able to find enough people to work the winter season for unlimited use. Also, a resort can chose to manage the chaos and eliminate those that do not want to play be the rules.

Lots of snow across central and east central MN. Mille Lacs is battling some poor ice and slush this year. Unlimited roads and parking spots will probably not be in the plans for most resorts.

There are many other lakes in that region that have zero activity when you drive by. Deep snow and slush.

Thank you for the info. I guess I was mostly concerned about accessing those resorts with a wheeler and portable fish house.

Call them. Both have resorts near by that can access the same areas.

I went out of Hunters yesterday, side by side and portable, no issue.

Went out of liberty Saturday morning and fished 3 mile. 13-14inches of ice. Pretty slow bite but did manage to get a slot fish overnight and caught lots of smaller walleyes under under 14” which is good to see for the lake. Had to reroute when getting of the lake on Sunday morning as the road out of liberty busted up. Talked to one of the plow drivers from hunters and he said the back half of his truck broke through and he almost went in on the old road out of liberty. So use caution and check in with the resorts.
