I have been to many around the lake but not yet Hunter Winfield’s. They seem to have less popularity. Not to be confused with Hunter’s Point (Nitti’s) which has a strong following.
My favorite is Mac’s Twin Bay on the east side partly because I am friends with Kevin McQuoid and I think they have the nicest cleanest fish houses. Appledoorns has nice houses but have not been out with them.
I have been out of Terry’s on the west side, Lyback’s on the south side and the Wharf on the east side as well as some other’s. One suggestion is if you can go midweek, most will offer 50% off or pay 1 night get next night free.

Red Door Resort is an excellent place to try. They are also safety conscious when it comes to the ice conditions. If your looking for someone else that only wants to make money and not care about its clients, then check elsewhere. The fishing has been phenominal in the past 3 years on that side of the lake from the sleeper house rentals compared to others I have stayed in. The rates are great, the food at the restaurant when open is very good. Cabin #1 is very roomy for 2 or three people . FF

Used Appledoorn’s last year for the first time, and they run a good operation all around. Houses were very nice!

I only have used Appledoorns and Portavilla once when they had their rentals there. Both were good experiences.

I stayed at Hunter Winfields in June. I guess it would depend on if you wanted to be on the South Side or North? Hunter Winfields had some sweet looking sleeper houses out on their lot by the road, but I have not stayed there for ice fishing. I would say the service for my stay in June was SO SO. Nothing bad, but nothing over the top either. They did rescue me from the lake on the first day when I had boat issues, so that was nice.

Pretty sure they all do, you choose the size of fish house based on how many you have. With 6, you would want one of the larger rentals. Some do have some large houses with some nice amenities.
