Mille lacs wheelhouse help

Heading to the north west side of Mille lacs next weekend with the ice castle to fish the mud flats for walleye. Not very familiar with the lake. Do u think it is better to be set up on the top or bottom side of flats with the house? Plan on doing some run n’ gun tactics during mid day. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

bottoms now for me, I do run a tip up on the top just to sample.

Find a ledge or inside turn on a flat. Set up on that for overnight action. Don’t sit on top. Bottom works but I like ledges half way up the flat. Like Mark said put out tip ups on top, edge and deep off flat to find out where they are.
