Mille Lacs trolling

When do you Muskie guys start trolling? I know fall is best but is June a waste of time or is it because of water temp that people don’t do much of it?

I’ll troll anytime I’m there and I have my boat in the water, and not getting pounded by a south wind. So yes, June, July, August.

So the old adage, “fish whenever you can” is what I’ll always do and that does include trolling for muskies in June. You never know what you might get and there’s also a better chance of tying into a nice northern.

Sometimes I’ll run big muskie crankbait on a muskie rod and then another light rod with a walleye crankbait. Just trying to improve my chances of hooking into something.
