Hey, I have next week off. Anyone have a general area on Mille Lacs to target pike? I’ve always wanted to chase tip-ups on the big pond, but my walleye fever gets in the way. This might be the time.

I would try along the bays on the south end or Wealthwood on the north end.

Does Mille Lacs have a different season? I thought pike and walleye closed at the end of February.

Mille Lacs might have different regs though.

Mille Lacs might have different regs though.

Northern Pike: Possession limit is five, except only one may be 30″ or greater. However, before taking a northern pike 30″ or greater a person must take two northern pike less than 30″ that same day and the fish must be in immediate possession. The angling season for northern pike extends through the last Sunday in March. However the season for darkhouse spearing ends on the last Sunday in February.

Anywhere you find a goody weedline will be a good choice. There are also some great options up on the North out of Red Door that are often overlooked… I know Steve’s kids caught some huge pike right out from the resort this winter.
