Just curious who everyone favors for best roads and access to the big pond? I am finally getting some Daughter and Dad time in the wheelhouse and just want an easy experience and maybe a spot that isnt a super party. I was leaning towards Appledorns as I know they plow wheelhouse spots. Not overyly worried about catching but hoping for my daughter yo catch her first eye. Also looking to leave the house on the lake until after the Ducks tournament. Any suggestions or tips are greatly appreciated.
We might put the house shallower for perch action during the day and eyes at night was sort of my line of thinking also. Thanks

I have favorites on both sides for different reasons.

Appeldoorn’s is good although looks like you’re planning the DU Tournement? Opposite sides of the lake, but maybe you know that already.

I agree with you and daughter, you’d like to avoid the party crowd. I’d think you’d have a good chance of your daughter getting her first walleye.

I think you have great idea setting up shallower and closer in for perch and night time walleye. Often overlooked while many run to the mud flats.

Possibly Lyback’s, they limit how many go out of their access so you’re not crowded and surrounded by late night party’s. I think you’d need to call in advance because they only allow 50 out there. Stay closer in around the Graveyard and daytime perch and night time walleye will be likely.

Oh, and make sure to have some kind of minnow, sucker, fathead down on a rattle reel 24/7 while you’re in the house.

    Good luck, have fun…

    Thank you for the input.

Lybacks was actually brought up with my buddy and is on my Radar and in the top 3.
Do you have a favorite on the west side?

Mille lacs has always been tough for me.
Either way time with the daughter is what is most important.

On the west side we go out of Terry’s. Hole in the wall place but it’s quick access to the mud.

Does anyone know if all the resorts close their access after the walleye season closes? Was thinking of maybe going up to chase some tulibees. Thanks in advance.

It wouldn’t surprise me, we tried to go those couple days this past Sunday, Monday & Tuesday and it was a no go at one of them…

    Mark,

Did you end up just going off a public access then?

Chapmans, Lybacks, Beachside(Wahkon), Macs Twin Bay are all still open & maintaining roads at least in the bays.
