New to fishing muskies after catching my first one last year I’m hooked and just want to catch another one. I will be hitting Mille lacs hard this year for the elusive musky and would just like some helpful tips. Lures, best places to start looking, depths ect. Any help is greatly appreciated

Good luck trying to get info. People that fish Mille lacs and have success keep a pretty tight lip. The fish are very spread out. The best advice is if it looks good fish it. Mille Lacs is a very tough body of water to fish. I would say a majority of this fish that are caught in there are trophy caliber fish, which means the conditions have to be ideal to have success. If you are a beginner Musky fisherman, I would definitely pick a different lake to work on confidence and learning how to fish for musky.

I would agree with what Brad is saying for the most part, although they can and do concentrate in certain areas. Concentrate on green cabbage areas earlier in the year until fall are spots that you could cast for them. But there is just so much water to cover is why many end up trolling. Any rock structure could hold “a fish” at anytime but tend to be better late fall. Try trolling big crankbaits to cover lots of water and vary depths until you get one (hopefully)!
It is for certain a trophy muskie lake but there are still good numbers in the 40-48″ range that most don’t report. But then everyone is hoping for one of these beasts! Good luck…

All the muskies died last winter, none left in the lake. I wouldn’t waist my time. lol
