Check out Johnson Portside on Facebook. Man, the power of that ice with this wind is incredible.

I posted some pictures Saturday of the ice on Mille Lacs. I could tell it was getting weak, this wind obviously did it in. Wind is the enemy of ice up there.

For some reason the video is not showing as well as it did on Facebook. The video seems like it got cropped – FYI

If you look close you can see the ice below the railing. The power of moving ice is amazing.

Hennepin Island looked like an Alpine mountain when I drove north of Isle today.
When the ice sheet is still fairly intact that is a lot of surface for the wind to push against.
I saw in the Messenger that a guy I know up on Hawkbill had his boathouse damaged.

Nothing piled up on Half Moon yet but small sheets are now drifting in to Wahkon Bay.

This was from Saturday. I think I snapped it somewhere between Wahkon & Isle. I’m not sure. cry

This is the most detailed video I have seen of the ice damage on Big Point.

Jon, Do you know where on Big Point that video is from? I am between Liberty Beach and Big Point and so far so good.

This isn’t the first time its happened…and it won’t be the last either. If we get high winds right when the ice breaks up, it ends up as a wall of ice on shore like this.

Like watching a lava flow eat up your house. Makes you wonder if there is a way to beat it?

Make sure you have a D-10 in your shed.
