Mille Lacs cracks

I’m relatively new to fishing ML, but I’d like to get out later this week. From what I understand, the cracks that develop on the lake are kinda predictable, more or less the same year after year, right? I’d like to get a handle on that. It would really help me in my planning. I’ll be on foot, FWIW. Thanks

More to the point, does anybody know if I can walk to the Sherman Point/Sherman Flat area right now? Been calling around and can’t find a good answer. Wanted to try Curly’s Flat, but that doesn’t look too good right now either.

I haven’t been up this year yet, but generally there is a crack that separates Sherman’s Point from Sherman’s flat. I believe some of the southern resorts like Rocky Reef started plowing a road out to Sherman’s Flat, so that would be where I checked.

There is a rough trail to shermans flat from the public access by casino. It would be a two mile walk. There were trucks out there Saturday.

That’s good intel, thanks. So beyond ready to get out there, I’ll accept a 2 mile walk. Are you saying there were trucks all the way out on the flat? Yeesh. Braver than me. shock

I think there is 14″ of ice, but I took my 4 wheeler.

Trucks were out on the flat and some trucks came from the south of indian point, there were also some towing there wheel houses.

Roy, there is a good 8-10” of snow on the ice, walking is going to be really tough. Even for a 20 year old. I’d highly recommend going out of a resort and paying to use the road. Really good fishing can be had right of most resorts roads.

I can give you some intel via PM if you’re willing to go out of the NE side. We parked 20’ off a resort road and did really well on Sunday.

I was out on Sherman’s point with the wheeler two weeks ago right after the big snow. There were trucks and even a mini van off-roading to get out to Sherman’s flat. 16″ of ice then. Wish I had drove out too because the wheeler was struggling in the deep powder. Walking would have given you a heart attack.
