It’s crazy that I used the word “only” before 18 fish averaging 3.35#. What an awesome fishery.

Where the heck takahiro fishing at? holy chit!

This guy has reported 11 fish now with an average size of over 4.5#. The average size of the fish he has culled is 4.23# which would put him in the top 10. Incredible!

(KVD’s average is only 3.35# with 18 fish)

Sounds like he stuck to the south end of the lake, so I’d guess by Indian Point and Rainbow or Spirit Island.

    As far as tracking Feider.

Basstacker hasn’t been updating, and doesn’t usually much in the last two hours to encourage viewers to watch the weigh in. According to some spotters on FB he has 3 – 6lbers 1 – 5lber and 1 – 4.75lber. Looks like he will weight at least 28lbs.

    Awesome.

I can’t help but think this is a great thing for Mille Lacs. I’m much more intrigued than I thought I’d be.

I recall, from lots of years ago– a conversation Lanny Watkins ( veteran PGA golfer) and I had at a sport show I was working at one time–comparing notes on the PGA VS. the PWT—how the mental part of the game/sport was the key.

I never forgot his take–“there is a lot guys that can putt on Thursday but not many that can putt on Sunday.” That said..it will interesting to see how the kid from Mn. does –with one in the chamber and the hammer back–pointed right between his eyes on Sunday. ( veterans in the hunt will try to mess with his head–no doubt.–been there done that!LOL)

The boat parade has started racing towards Eddy’s.
Just wondering what happens to all those fish bouncing around in the livewell?

The harsh reality is–if all the boats have a limit, it is 250 fish. If half die…. that is 125. Not even a small drop in the bucket at Lake Mille Lacs. So–who cares!!!! Those 20-21″ fish will die of old age….very soon either way as many are 15 plus years old. NOT worth a thought…

Steve, I think your responses on this thread are really obnoxious. I’ll leave it at that.

I do wish they followed the C&R format that has worked so well for AIM. That’s just my opinion.

Anyway, watching all of this is a blast! I’ve never been excited about seeing this kind of thing but maybe because it’s on ML I’m just loving it. Mike Ike just said he caught the second biggest smallmouth of his life on his third cast in pre-fishing. KVD says he’s never seen anything like Mille Lacs — he was disappointed with his 23# weight today because he didn’t get a big one. Said he had a bunch of fish over 6# in pre-fishing. They’re all talking about what a special fishery it is — “the best smallmouth fishery on the planet!” What a cool deal.

I’d bet less die from this tournament than any walleye tourneys held on that lake. Including your cpr tourneys! No gut hook live bait action with these boys….

I agree!! (not “obnoxious” I hope LOL LOL) This level of exposure will pay big $$ for many years to come…and everyone in the business world at Lake Mille Lacs welcomes it!

Canker Sores heal in a week! All is good. Catch many fish with sores on their mouths from previous catches. Cath and release work.

As an FYI, with the agitation more oxygen is forced into the water so in essence they may be breathing better than ever!

Anyone here why Feider (though it was still a huge bag) weighed so much lower than he (and basstraker) had him at for weight?

I agree! My intent was to convey all is good–no matter what happens. Not a factor one way or another for the future of the bass numbers. ALL GOOD!! Period?

Any body here go to this, or drive by? I caught the last 10 anglers weigh in, and I gotta say I am really considering calling in sick tomorrow. Just kidding, but I think I’m going to head up Sunday and bring my boys. It looks like allota fun! Is it a zoo up there? How’s parking etc, access via 169 etc?
Where’s it at exactly? I know the casino, but front, back, Vineland park? How close to the stage can you get when these guys are weighing in? Or is it just another tourist trap and I’d be better off watching it on ESPN in a month?

bring the boys up Saturday, they don’t fish that day and have meet and greets, seminars and all kinds of things for the kids to do. I am sure that every kid will get some kind of grab bag or fishing rod. Spend the night and watch Sundays take off and weigh in. Today wasn’t bad for traffic where I was, Sunday might be different, I am expecting alot more people. Not all were fishing smallmouth, I watched a few from my dock in cove bay chasing largemouth.

A couple months ago some of you guys that are now allofasudden SUPER FANS… were talking about blocking off the road to the weigh-ins with your truck and boat on trailer in protest……. now look at you guys. roll

Hats off to those folks that have been in support of this event coming to the area from the start.

Not sure who you are referencing this to, but c’mon man! First I’m sure every new “SUPER FAN” will go back to not caring about bass tourney’s as soon as the last boat is off the lake. Secondly, anyone proposing a protest was not doing so in regards to B.A.S.S., the tournament, nor bass fishing in general. Finally, I don’t recall anyone saying the event itself would be bad for the area, just disappointed in the tribe (aka one of the two groups responsible for the walleye mismanagement) was hosting it.

Anyway, I’ll be following it again today, and hope the MN Boy brings it home!

Been listening to the live feed this morning. Man they do good work promoting this event.

I’m sad because I initially planned to be up there today as a spectator but saw the forecast earlier this week and decided to work today and come up tonight. Looks pleasant out there. Damn.

I’ll be up this evening and check it out tomorrow and Sunday. Oh, and by the looks of things, Sunday morning will probably be a zoo. There are already a lot of spectator boats following them around. :double thumbsup:

Regardless of what you think will happen when the last boat leaves the lake. I just thought it was interesting that a month ago all of the negative things that were being tossed around. And now a different tone.

When you say that “your going to park your lund pro-v to block the weigh ins”….. it seems ironic that your posting on how cool it is to be watching it LIVE and how much of a fan you are. (the very same event you were trying to interrupt) That’s all Im saying.

Since you were asking who I was referencing.. here you go

Does anybody think we can put it together? Having a protest on twilight road and 169 would get a little attention about an hour before the weigh in.

    BigWerm wrote:
No, I don’t think you can put it together, but if you are actually trying I’ll be in line with the Pro V.

I can respect anyone that has a different view on issues than me..we can respectfully argue our beliefs back and forth. But represent a side that you believe in. Don’t bash the event for a month then flip sides the next.

My opinion is that whether you are a Walleye guy, bass guy, Muskie guy………. this is a very very good thing to happen to Mille Lacs area. Haven’t wavered from that opinion since the announcement.

LOL! I guess I’ll just reiterate I have nothing against B.A.S.S., the AOY event on Mille Lacs, Smallmouth, Largemouth, Muskies, or any other thing you misinterpreted from my previous posts. I do have a problem with the management of one of my favorite lakes, and the Capital Lake of our State Fish. One of the two groups responsible for the mismanagement is the tribe, and if we were serious about bringing attention to that fact, this event would have been a great opportunity. But as I pointed out in the post you quoted, I didn’t think anything would be put together to do so, and nothing was. Just as nothing was posted by me bashing this event, so imo it’s not flipping sides to follow it now. Nor to stop caring about B.A.S.S. events after this weekend.

I agree it’s a great event for the entire Mille Lacs area, will be for a long time going forward and I am looking forward to the rest of the weekend. None of that has anything to do with the serious mismanagement of the lake in my humble opinion, and if you’d like to discuss further start another thread.

    ^^^^ what he said.

Let’s just leave it at that and return to the regularly scheduled programming… Watching a local boy’s dreams come true at a tournament that highlights my favorite lake in the world!
