For years more band members have lived in Mpls then on the rez on the lake. There is a select few on the rez with the agenda and their goals haven’t changed. So I don’t see them giving in anytime soon.

In reality, it is not the Mille Lacs band that is netting in big numbers… it is actually alot of blue eyed, blonde haired natives that come from a couple hundred miles east of Mille Lacs, this I see with my own eyes every spring. Back in the day, they would have been killed for what they are doing today… all the Mille Lacs Band can do is watch with the rest of us… court ordered for them too.

Well aware of those facts, and those tribes you speak of are of which I’m talking about.

You’d be suprised how many light skinned “white” looking natives there are, who have quite strong bloodlines. Those Frenchies back in the day made their way into some teepees if ya know what I’m saying. Comes through once in awhile with the kids.

You have any pics of these blond natives? Seen em yourself? Not doubting but facts can be exaggerated.

I’m curious to the tribe enrollment. My in-laws and all that generation family is enrolled one place or another, but none of the kids, my wife’s generation don’t have enough “blood” or documents to support that blood to be enrolled anywhere, which means $$$$. Wonder where all that $$ is gonna go after the parents croak off. Many people on the rez right now not very happy with the management of it as well, corrupt as can be. Many issues.

Instead of looking at the netters and spearchuckers as enemies, maybe think outside the box. From my vantage point, just doesn’t seem that far away.

So Mille Lacs is most certainly an enigma, and with the all the discussion here and elsewhere…at least a two headed monster at minimum, if not more? No place, lake, river, water body, land area is more “embattled” than ML.

So…? You have at least two big monsters. One…from businesses and anglers, the shutdowns, narrow slots (when allowed) and limited walleye angling opportunities. Lot of griping about that and perhaps justifiably so if it is your business.

Two…you have the other head of the monster continually at issue with the “different rules” (allowances) for tribal members.

If by chance the walleye population recovers and there is a renewal of state angler harvest and more liberalized limits…

…would there be a need for protests? If in fact this “monumental” 2013 year class does by chance restore the walleye population to where state anglers could have a 3 bag limit? Would there then be a need or desire to march upon the Capitol or generate a “protest campaign”?

Perhaps just the one head of “the monster” will grow larger? crazy

Facts I seen with my own eyes exaggerated ? Yeah, that’s me. doah Take a drive around the lake early may, stopping in the different public access’… on The west side you will see what I would refer to as “real natives” as you get to the north or south end, you get a mix of what I call “real & wannabe natives”… on the east side, you get the full blown “wannabe natives”, most license plates and boat reg stickers are Wisconsin… and most of them for some reason are trying to look like one of Ragnor’s buddies (think blonde mohawk) and are right out of a cabelas dressing room. If you think I jest, take the ride, it’s only a couple hours out of your life. Then you can really see what all the talk is about and what’s exaggerated and what’s not. You really get a look at how all the walleye are being “counted/weighed” too !!! whistling crazy

Missed the “seen with my own eyes”, that was my bad. My apologies for not reading more thouroghly.

I’ll pass on seeing them though still, as I said I’m familiar with the different “coloring” of Natives.
