Mille lacs area ice

Now that Mille lacs is starting to freeze up, I was wondering, what is the ice conditions on the smaller lakes in the area?
Is there walkable ice just north of Garrison?

Funny you ask, because I aim to find out.

I’m going to guess it’s still a little too soon right now, but I won’t just leave it at a guess.

I have to run up to Aitkin the next day or two and planned a scouting route to check out conditions on a couple small lakes between here and Aitkin.

I have hope that they could be close and could be ready in a few more days. We’ll see.

I’ll post back here when I find out.

No idea, a bunch of the small lakes did just cap around the area. I will be out doing some ice fishing this weekend, so we will see.

Most of the Brainerd lakes, not Gull, have 2-3 inches. I just got back from checking. Garrison bay is capped over as far as you can see.

Red Door posted on facebook they had skim ice as far as they could see yesterday.

Hopefully by Christmas break in a few weeks she’ll be ready.
