my trip is about a week away. going to be saying on the north end at the red door.

curious if anyone has trolled the north end after dark for eyes.

is this worthwhile? what depth should i focus on?

does the deeper leadcore bite usually shut off after dark?

    thanks guys!

Andy, trolling the north end sand break is always worth a check. If you have not fished it, pretty easy. Just follow the break once you hit the drop off straight out of the Red Door. Set up an hour or so before dark and go from there. There are rock piles along the break too. You may encounter people anchored up bobber fishing these areas. The deep lead core bite can continue into the evening to. Typically will see these fish higher in the water column.

What I have been seeing/hearing lately is a pretty good bobber bite after dark. Many smaller fish are getting caught. (not keepers) but enough action to keep it interesting.

    Good luck,

    -J.

We encountered several bug hatches last week. Our best fishing was from 8-1030-11 ish and then it died considerably. Jon is right, the fish started to rise up towards dark and just after. We trolled the break out from the Red Door a few times, caught a couple slimmers, but didn’t give it much effort because the mud bite was going well for us. Like Jon said again, lots of little guys willing to take the bobber down. On a side note….they wanted smaller leeches. Jumbos did NOT produce.

Has anyone Tried the WEEDs early and late at night for the troll bite? I have not been on the lake for a year and my best bite (in past years) is early and late off the weed in shallow 8-12 with stick baits.(South End) Sad to see not much activity on the IDO site this year. Any advise for a 2 day trip would be greatly appreciated…

I think the response on the site this year has been two fold… First, I am still seeing guys just returning to the site as it has worked its way back up to its fullest speed. Second, especially for the Mille Lacs guys, there aren’t too many who are going there, thus the slow down in that forum… Still solid and important info coming out of there though!!! Also I think some guys have gravitated to Facebook, at least I am friends with a number guys from here that seem to be posting there before it winds up here… As the site gets back up to its fullest speed and guys become more familiar with its newness and the ML fishery restrengthens, it’ll be just like da olden days.

You should try posting your question on a new thread. Burying a question inside another topic all but assures it will be overlooked. Since all the other questions posted seem to be followed up with very good info I think you’ll be pleasantly surpised. Just sayin…

Sorry for not catching this earlier Trophy… You caught me in the middle of a move the past few weeks. It is sad to hear how few people have been fishing Mille Lacs this year.

Fischer’s launch was working a mile or so off-shore this last weekend just before dark. At Castaway’s there were people casting from shore after dark and getting a fish or two and a half dozen boats left from there to join the launch each evening. The launch didn’t stay out late.
