Question for fishing Mille Lacs.
Would I be better off fishing a spot like Betcker’s flat, a weed topped flat surrounded by deeper water.
Or running out to a mud flat that tops out at about 24 feet surrounded by 30 foot water.
You would catch fish at both but I would go out to a main flat right now. Sit deeper off the edge during the day and move up shallow at night.
This will be a straight up day trip, maybe until sunset.
I would for sure go out to the main flats then. Fish 29-34 feet off the edge of the flats and cover as much water as you can. That is probably the best way to catch fish right now. As a general rule, you do not want to fish on top of the flat during the day. Fish things like points and inside turns on the flats. You will probably find most of your fish in that deeper water.
