    We am heading up to millacs in acouple weeks with the kids we would like to fish acouple rock piles that we catch small mouth on right about dark but we also catch a walleye there somtimes is the dnr being being jerks about this or is it safe to take the kids there for afternoon of fun ?

    I always say if you’re questioning it then you better think twice. They won’t give you a ticket if you truly intended to fish for smallies.

    i know that fishing for small mouth is not against the law but i dont want to deal with the dnr with kids in the boat if i dont have to pan fish are also a option

    I know that the launches are using the same methods to catch smallies as they do when targeting walleyes. Slip bobber and leeches on the rocks.
    Thats what I have generally done when I want to chase smallies as well.

    I do not think you will get any guff from the wardens as long as you are not doing something silly like trolling #5 shadraps on lead core on the mudflats.
