Milestone for my son

    It’s my oldest sons 18 birthday today. We spent the morning in the recruiters office taking the first steps for him to become a future Marine. It was a very proud moment and something I regretted not doing when I was young.

    Congrats, that’s great. Summer of 2002 was like that for me, it’s such an exciting time and I’m sure he’s pumped.

    deertracker,tell that young man happy birthday for me,and then shake his hand for me,and tell him thank you for becoming a defender of the greatest country on earth!!
    may the Good Lord watch over and protect him!!!

    my son joined the Army a couple of years ago,couldnt be more proud of that young man!!
    if you have never been to a military graduation before,you are in for a treat when he graduates boot camp!!
    you will get so pumped up that you will want to go to one every week!!

    I was in that same spot in 1981, 6 months after my 18th birthday. I opted for the Navy, the Marines need somebody to bring them to the fight. The Marines is a good choice. A good buddies kid is pushing boots right now, maybe your son will meet him, up close and personal. Happy birthday, take the oath and don’t look back. Going into the military is a very good life choice, being a veteran helped get me into the career that I am getting ready to retire from.
