Heading up to mille lacs for the first time the weekend of Valentines day. Wanting to target perch and a bonus walleye would be awesome! Any advice would be great! Like I said this will be my first trip up there so have no idea where to even start. Hope you guys can help a fella out! Thanks

Your best bet for perch will most likely be in 25-30′ along the sand breakline that runs along almost the entire East side of the lake. The perch I caught last weekend were out 3 miles out from Castaways. Head out on their main road to side road #5 will put you right on the breakline. From there along the breakline you should be able to find perch several miles in either direction (North/South) and try to find a spot away from others. 1/8 Oz tumbler or Rattle spoons in UV green/Perch/silver tipped with eurolarva or waxies is the way to go.

Thanks for the great info Will! I’ve never targeted perch through the ice so I wasn’t sure what structure to look for. Little different then SW iowa gills! Haha

Will, that is a great post.
I’m thinking of heading up myself in the next week or so, and your info is always helpful, thanks.

This will be my first trip of any kind up that way. Never ice fished a body of water quite like Mille Lacs! Hope we can get on some fish!
