With maybe 2 months left of my ice fishing season, I wanted to give an update to my ice sesason. Been watching IDO religiously practically every week now, and am still learning a ton!
Just a little background in case you guys don’t remember my intro – but I spend much of my ice season hunting crappies until the ice is ready for ling(eelpout), with the odd walleye or laker trip.
So this winter, I somehow managed to beat my PB crappie twice (now at 15+”), get a new PB walleye, and PB lake trout. I also discovered a new favorite live bait for ling that doesn’t cost any money, and got completely starstruck by meeting KVD in person at the fishing show in Toronto.
The real highlight was yesterday, when I decided to do an IDO inspired exploration trip, trekking from one lake into 2 others, and finding a bunch of untapped crappies that were willing to chase up 5 feet or more after already suspending 12 feet down in 25FOW. Unfortunately, the fish were averaged 8″, but it was very exciting to find fish that have probably never seen a bait before.
I’ll let the pictures talk now, cheers!
