We were out of Racine and Milwaukee this weekend.

We did poorly. The water was very warm for Michigan (mid to high 60’s) and the fish were scattered. We didn’t even mark one bait ball.

A little radio chatter indicated a select few were on fish. However the majority I talked to on the radio and at the landing did not do good. Two to four fish per boat seemed typical. That’s what we had as well. Two smaller kings. We went 2 for 3 on the weekend.

Oh well, there is a lot of season left.

I fished out of Port Washington and had similar results. We were rather hamstrung as our electronics went down and all we had to rely on was our gps and 1 temp sensor on a downrigger.

Thursday morning we had 7 in the box and 3 in the evening. Biggest was a 12# king. We missed 4 fish in the evening. I think they were swimming at the boat and we couldn’t reel in fast enough.

Friday morning was slow, too. 4 kings by 10am from 2-13#. If we could find the edge of the 50 degree water, we got bit. Otherwise it was slow. Green ladderback spoons accounted for the majority of our strikes.
