The Fox river at Depere Wi now has open water and the boats were out in full force chancing walleyes. Water was open from the dam to the Bay. It will still be trophy fishing for a while, with the limit one over 28″, but it’s nice to see the fishing season getting started.
Been open for about a week now. Very slow fishing for most, water is extremely clear and there is no flow. Most out there are anchored and vertically jigging or casting husky jerks in the crowds and catching nothing. Fish are being caught though as always…

Grew up in DePere, miss the spring walleye rush. By the time the Skeeter gets out of storage the big girls should be eating!
We will be there the last weekend of March again! I can’t wait!
