Green Bay is a very large Bay…
Where are you staying near Green Bay? What species?

    Kirt,

There will always be good numbers of fish in University Bay right out of Green Bay. Pods of bigger fish seem to be off on their own out there. When you can find them, you can catch a bunch in a hurry. One key, is finding smaller humps on a trolling pass, substructure as I like to call it.

Most guys focus on the bigger reefs, but I’ve always done better on big fish by trolling over a series of smaller humps. I fish mostly the west side of the bay, which is where I’m assuming you’re going. It may be worth the 20 minute drive one or two days to drive the truck up to Oconto so you can fish the stuff up there too (without putting the extra 20 miles each way on the boat).

Kirt – I’ve fished GB a few times and will more in the future. Great fishery that leaves the door open for a wide variety of techniques. Normal weather patterns should have fish from Geano’s reef area all the way north to Oconto shoals. Grab a map and look for a shark fin in the Geano reef area. Start on the breakline and work in and out. Stagger spinners (3 lines/angler) throughout the water column until you find them. Favorite bite is when they move up high in deep water. GB walleyes crush the boards so it’s like dragging bobbers around. Make sure you cover that top 5 ft of the water as some days they are way up high catching some rays…. Post some reports when you get back… Kurt
