Most fisherman have spent the last several days on the ice of the LBDN covering some shallow water areas in the upper bay without a lot of success yet!
Methods of fishing have been using both tip-ups and jigging approaches tip-ups rigged with shiner and sucker minnows (3 to 5 inch lengths) and varying depths of water from 4 feet to 12 feet , setting line-length depths from just off the bottom to 5 to 6 feet off bottom.
Jigging and using William Wabbler Spoons in Fire Tiger and Gold in 2 inch lengths, jigging Raps’ again Fire Tiger and Chartruese/Glow as well just plain leadhead jigs tipped all with minnow sizes of about 2 inches (the local bait shops carry some good choices of minnows)
Again this morning , catches have been varied. Best times of fishing and daybreak along with just before and after darkness for about an hour.
During midday setting up tip-ups can put some northern pike on the ice and sizing down baits can also catch some perch.

Ice conditions continue to getting better on the north end of the bay from Kipling North.
Much colder weather temps. coming in this week should help immensely in starting to freeze the lower bay and fix some of those other thin spots throughout the bay.

Keep in touch fisherman and good luck on the water!
