The pre fishing week of the TR derby took us to new depths out in the lake. We took 60 and 90 degree headings and primarly worked 300-600 feet with one days adventure taking us out past 750 feet of water. Fishing the Abyss has been fun, but only some above the average catches. The action continues to be tough even with the perfect 51-57 degree water temps from 30-280 feet of water. Alot of marks in the 60-80 foot depths north, but alot of those could be whitefish Our best action continues to be on the highlines with Pro Kings in double orange, bumble bee, and crushed orange. Most days the pumps don’t hit the water so the high lines have a stealthier run. We did have a 8th place fishing in the TR super tournament and did bring in the winning fish in the lake trout division. A 27lb king finished in first place in that division. There have been some larger kings they just need to start moving in in masses to get the action heated up.
