Bay of Green Bay report

Despite too much wind and cold water temperatures the bite has been great on the Bay of Green Bay. The norm for my son and I is a half day of fishing with many fish in the 15-22″ range. We’ve been focussing on working the Lower Bay but I’m hearing reports of bigger fish up near Sturgeon Bay and areas North. Our best bite has been with spinners over 5-10″ of water, but we experienced a few days where cranks outperformed spinners. The bigger fish we’ve encountered have also been on cranks, with the Kaboom Deep Shiner and Deep Little Ripper in firetiger being our best lures. You’re right about the wind. Fished various areas of the canal yesterday targetting smallies, and got skunked. ouch!that coupled with the wind, put a whoopin’ to me. Was supposed to hit it again today and tomorrow, but decided to head home this morning, with winds forecast to gust at 40 mph. Hope to get back there in a couple weeks to hit the smallies and troll for eyes. Heard from the resort owner that area just south of Hendersons has been hot too.

Thanks for the report, I’ll be chasing kings over July 4th weekend out of Cleveland. We went out of Manitowoc the day before the derby last year and did pretty well, we even got our picture in the paper for our catch.
