Walleyes on the Opener

The inconsistant weather got in the way of me finishing up the painting on the Willie Bee so I got the call to go up to Green Bay and chase some walleyes, the opening day was a little windy, but we boated 5 legel walleyes 9 undersized throw backs and a 20+ lb carp. Thunder Sticks and Zip lures worked for us, now it’s back to getting the Bee ready. The winds have kept the action on Lake Michigan to a minimum, but that will turn very soon.

I think that stringer weighs as much as my yearly total catch, wow!

What is a legal walleye up that way? Those fish are all CPR’d here in Minnesota due to slots or just plain old catch and release. Those are some pigs! RR

A legal walleye on the Bay right now must be over 15″. The creel survey guy at the dock said the average keeper sizes coming in right now are 22-24 inches. The big boys are the over 30 inchers.

Great to see the fishery is doing well. I plan on getting out in the Bay soon
