Got to spend some time on the water, out of Algoma, this past week-end.

    Fri A.M. 4 for 5

2 for 3 on the SWR rigger down 50′, with a Green Glow Splatteback Silver Horde, in 105′-114′.

2 for 2 on #1 Dipsy’s set at a #3 setting 120 LOC. First came on a Pro-King regular Green/Black Ladderback. Second came on an Opti Glow white flasher with an Aqua Howie fly. Also in the 105-114′ range.

    Fri evening, 2 for 5

1 for 2 on the same SWR set-up.
1 for 2 off a gold hammered spoon with orange stripe off the high birds
    0 for 1 on a #1 Dipsy set to #3 with 120 LOC

    Sat. A.M. 3 for 8 (ouch)

1 for 4 on high birds, with the 1 being a 7# bow off a gold Annuerism spoon, with 1/4 oz ear sinker 5 feet ahead of the bait. 100-110′ depth range.

1 for 2 on #1 Dipsy’s set on 3, 170′ LOC. With the White Opti flasher and a green glow squid. Same water range.

1 for 2 on the same SWR setup, down 70′

    Sunday A.M. 3 for 6

1 for 3 on #1 Dipsy’s set back 110′-170′ on #3. 70′-80′ water depth. Same white Opti flasher and squid.

0 for 1 on a high bird w/ orange hammered gold spoon. He was the second of a double that we lost both of. Also in the 70′-80′ range.

2 for 2 on the Starboard rigger down 40′ with, you guessed it, the same opti flasher and aqua fly.

Monday morning the water had laid back down, but was much too foggy, for me to go out, without radar.

Water temps were around 48.5 on the top when we started, witht the SE winds, it was 53.5 by the time we left. Fish are filled with Alewives. Nothing in complete darkness, but as soon as the sky lightened the bite would start. Lots of boats as usual for this time of year. Fishing still hasn’t turned the corner yet, but it is getting closer.
