Yes, I finally got out this indian Summer morning. Some wispy fog greeted us on the waters of the Bay. The air temps. at around 44′ and water temps. running that 52′ to 54′ mark, light winds from the south slowly building and by afternoon putting a nice “walleye-chop” on the water.
Our presentation throughout the day was using jig/minnow combinations along with pulling diving crankbaits.
Today again marking a good number of fish along all these breaklines and dying weeds in some areas. Green weeds seemed to be key when getting several strikes and misses.
A 22 inch walleye came early working the northern shoreline just being on the weed edge dragging the jig/minnow slowly along the rocky dropoff. We worked the area pretty hard and only managed one other smaller eye and a fiesty smallie. The sun burned brite and the fish just wouldn’t cooperate for the rest of the morning.
There were no other anglers on the water today telling us that hunting season has won over most sportsmen in our area, at least for the time frame of when we were on the water today.
DONT GIVE UP YET, THE SOME OF THE BEST TROPHY WALLEYE FISHING OF THE YEAR IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.
