With the winds gusting and changing in every direction we had a tough weekend of fishing. Sat. morning was called early with 4 fish and the afternoon was cancelled. Sun. we had a short break before the winds kicked up again, but 15 fish did hit the cooler before returning in. The water temps are in the high 60’s and the easy fishing from June and early July in the cold water is over. We definalty were spoiled with the increadable action this year so far, but now it’s back to work and back to deeper water. 90% of the fish are coming on pumphandles fished on the bottom in 80-180 feet of water, with a few fish on the riggers fished as deep as you care to let cable out the back of the boat. The strong cold water currents on the bottom make the fishing difficult but if everything lines up right and the trolling speed gets dialed in, there are alot of fish piled up on the bottom. All flashers and flies, with no color prefernce, just send them way back behind the boat. The deep water will be the place to be untill we see the west winds turn the lake over and the salmon head for the rivers.
