We found some bigger kings, but we watched the water temp’s drop all morning. The west winds are usually a welcome site to cool the water and bring the fish in, but we already had the perfect water and now it was turning to ice. By the end of the day we were fishing in 39 degree water and had put 7 kings and 2 rainbows in the the boat. Bows high on orange and flasher flies with green Jimmy flies and boy blue Loner flies working the best. We worked inside the fish nets in 70-80 feet of water. The way those nets are set up to run the edge you have to keep a good eye out for the next set. Check the rest of the days reports at http://www.williebeecharters.com

Thanks for the update Keith. I see some controversey has come up on adding more nets in the area. I’ll be coming over for the Manty Derby. Are they well marked and gps coords. accurate?

At last count there were 22 nets lined up out there, they probable will be there all summer, the sportsman lost the political battle to have them removed during peak fishing season. There are maps with coordinates available at Seagull Marina and the Manitowoc marina should have copies, also. They are subject to being moved without notice so keep a good watch out. They are legally marked but it may get confusing with all of them out there where one ends and the next begins. I don’t know if they will be putting any lights on them this year, last year they received some free lights from the Sea Grant program and did mark some nets, but since it is not a requirement of them I don’t think they will add the lights this year. Good Luck in the Derby and Stay Out of the Nets.
