Had the day after new years off so went for some winter steelhead action. There are a number of rivers in south east wisconsin that are holding fish now so find one and go have some fun.
I went after we had some rain a day or so ago so I knew conditions would be tough. High fast water that was cloudy made seeing fish impossible in the runs but most are in the holes anyway. So after fishing my normal spots with no success I headed to some holes that a buddy treated me to. After a couple of drifts of spawn sacs on a cork I saw the hit and we were off to the races. A nice eater at 22 inches. That was it as time ran out for me.
No pictures this time but it was a beautiful male in full colors.
Will be out through winter. Nothing like reading the river and finding fish.
