I’m heading to Green Bay for work on November 8 and will be in town at least until the 10th and I’m trying to figure out if it is worth packing some fishing gear. Does anyone have info about walleye fishing in the area this time of year? Is fishing from shore on the river an option? If someone has any contact info for a good guide or fellow IDA’er that might want to chase walleyes out on the bigger water some evening, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

There are alot of walleyes and big muskies in the FOx River now. The shad are also in the river, so the predator fish will be there for awhile. I’ve never tried from shore but the fish can be caught up shallow with waders on up near the dam.

If you want to try the night trolling bite, check out the guys at http://www.hawgeyes.com. Jason and crew do a great job on the Bay and they’re up on whats happeneing out there. Generally you’ll get a good fish bite at about the time you come.

Thanks. I think I will plan on fishing while I’m there. I’ll be throwing my waders in.

I am 130 miles north (Little Bay de Noc)…but I believe the fall trolling/Red tail chub bite should be pretty much in full swing down there also.
Hit the Bait/tackle shops…they should be able to take care of you.

    Hi…
Yep it is a great time to catch big eyes here. Just don’t plan to eat any fish you catch out of the river, or in the inner bay. (HUGE pcb levels here) You can fish right from shore in Voyageur Park in De Pere. It can get crowded but the fish are there. If you do end up in a boat out there, or do wade near the rocky shores or dam, just pitch cranks and you’ll be successful. If you end up in the boat near the channel, or breaks, flats, etc…. just jig and you’ll do fine too. There have been a lot of boats out there lately and you’ll see where they’re at.
    Good luck

Oh yeah…. by the way… the big bait shop closed down a while ago (it was SUCH a good place to find some different stuff….but they started carrying big products they should have stayed away from!) ……. there’s a Gander Mountain on 41 at the Shawano/Dousman exit, a Sportsman’s warehouse in DePere off of 41, and a Fleet Farm off of 41 at the Shawano/Dousman exit. They may have more info. My fiance is a charter captain too and we’ve been hitting the area lately for fun…

Fished there last weekend. Caught 44 walleyes friday and spent almost half the day fishing for musky. Caught 50 walleyes saturday and spent half day fishing musky. Fished till 1 sunday and caught 34 walleye. All on jig and minnow, jig color made no difference.
