Out 3 times over the weekend. NE winds mostly, but gentle at about 5 knots. No fish for first 2 trips. Terrible.

On the last trip, magic hour was from 0600-0700. NE winds about 5-10 knots, minimal white caps, waves 2-3 feet. Got quick sick after 5 hours. Had 2 boated fish to show for it : 10lb king and a 8lb Rainbow.

10lb king taken in 90-100 FOW on downrigger set at 86 feet trolling at 2.5mph in S direction, large green/white fly, and pearl spin doctor.

8lb rainbow taken at the surface with a orange 00 dodger and small green/black fly set 60 feet back. Was actually setting my downrigger, and the rainbow hit while I was trying to put on the release when it snapped in my hand. I thought, what the h*ll, and then realized it was a fish.

Had a possible hit on a spoon set at 70 feet on downrigger.

    That is all.

we’re getting mixed reports over here in the Milwaukee area. some guys doing ok to good, others reporting a big skunk. Northeasterlies don’t help, but looks like more stable weather patterns, with westernlies , are just around the corner. Havent been out since Friday, but may give it a crack this Friday afternoon if work schedule allows me to escape. do you come all the way from Rochester to fish lake Michigan?

Yup. Gonna be there this weekend too. Trying to catch the westerly winds and also hopefully calmer weather.

Keep your eye on this post…..heading out this afternoon, hoping for at least a good “magical hour” bite. This next two weeks is my favorite time on the Big Pond….a good chance of good numbers, mixed bags, and big fish. Hopefully the weather/winds will be favorable. good luck to you guys.

I post my Lake Michigan reports on this forum, under Lake Michigan heading…scroll down a few threads, and you’ll see it. A “drive-by” or Hit’n’run” are what we affectionately refer to when describing a good slam on a downrigger, dipsey, or lead core set up, but no hook-up and no fish by the time we get to the rod.
