    LBDN Report
As with most fishing trips to LBDN the weather would be a factor we would have to deal with. Gale winds on Sat, Rain mixed with snow on Sun, would leave Mon-Thurs to some fairly decent conditions out on the water, as long as you had a drift sock to slow the drift down. Water temps ranged from 50 to 54. Walleyes were scattered pretty much anywhere, but not in any big groups. Best depths ranged from 17-34 ft. The best presentations were drifting with 1/8 and 1/4oz fireball jigs tipped with 1/2 crawler or med. leech. Chartreuse, Green, orange and yellow were the best colors. Phelps floaters also worked well. We caught an incredible amount of throwbacks < 15″ fish that ranged from 6″ to 14+. It really shows the diverse range of classes out there. The largest we caught was 19″, with most of the keepers coming in at 16-18″. We did manage to catch a few decent perch and northerns. Had one large pike bite off right at the boat. The gobies were active out on Center Reef and the zebra mussels were pretty much everywhere. We never tried trolling but there were reports of nice fish caught trolling with bottom bouncers and spinner rigs. Can’t wait to come back next year. Dave

    Thanks Coffey!
We got some really nice 18-22″ fish in the deep(26-40′) basins dragging jigs and crawlers…got limits Mon-Wed & Fri of opening week.

    Thanks Tom,

40 ft of water? wow! guess I’ve never gone that deep.
You must have been south of the Gladstone Yacht Club somehwere right? I know there’s some 35-40 ft of water in the channel between Hunters Pt and the Gladstone Yacht club. It seems everything north of there is 30-35 ft at most
We did catch a number of small fish with a few nice ones mixed in the 28-34 ft area. We never ventured any further south. I’ll have to give it a shot. thanks again Dave

Yup…even caught an 8lb Channel Cat out of 42′ with a jig/crawler combo. I don’t go shallow until weeds are up…this year it will b late June.
