Anyone fish out of sturgeon bay? Headed up that way for a 5 day trip at the end of the month.
The weekend was definitely good for my old man. Dad took 2 guys w/ him sat and sun and they brought home 29. Kings, Kings, Kings along w/ a monster brown.

When we go for weekend trips we only fish salmon. Wanting to try some eyes though on this 5 day at the end of the month. Not even sure where to start though. I have a map coming in the mail. I’d take any info you could offer on the eyes.
I was all over that area last week, there were some pretty nice fish caught but we really had to work for them!
There was no one spot we had to move all over the place to find numbers of fish.
We caught everything with crawlers nothing on the cranks..
Good Luck
Great looking fish. You say you were fishing out of Algoma? About how deep were you fishing and were you running north or south? Jackie and I were there over this past weekend and tried for salmon but blanked. We fished only on Saturday and visited the Whitefish Dunes State Park Sunday. I’m going back next weekend and could use some pointers for both Salmon and Walleye’s.
Thanks Steve
We were west of Stugeon Bay in Green Bay out on the reefs, like I said we were all over! Anywhere from 2 ft too 22 ft…
We were only chasing eyes!
leinieman, easy answer on the salmon. Put in at sturgeon and head to the hill. Jump in with the pack and fish the break. Need to have lines in the water by 430 at the latest! 4-5am has been the time, along with the last hour of day, right when the sun is setting. Last saturday dad had lines in the water at 430. First fish in the box at 436 and 4-5 others joined it before 5. That morning they boated 2 doubles and a triple! Lately on that evening bite anything before the last hour to hr and a half has been a bonus. Everything was putting up fish, riggers, dipseys, wires and lead.
Actually I was asking about fishing for walleye’s out of Algoma. Or any help on Salmon fishing that area also. Jackie and I caught some a few weeks back but couldn’t hook them up this time. We went 0 for 5 trips on the downriggers and that was it. We heard about the early bite and launched at 2:30 am Saturday to beat the rush ( I wasn’t the first on at the landing). It was plenty dark out there and being a rookie only started with 2 rods on downriggers. We fished untill about 8:00 with 3 trips and o fish. I was fishing 65-90 feet of water 35 to 45 down with flashers and flies. Switched up some in the afternoon trying some dipseys along with the riggers. 1 with a spoon and one with a J-Plug. No luck there either. Fished from 3 till 8 and boy was it hot out there. We probably should of headed deeper as we only went out to about 125 feet or so. I’ll be back over that way a week from Friday and will be after them again so if anyone has any tips to help me put a few in the boat just shout. I will be staying at Big Lake Campground and will have some ice cold Leinies if anyone wants to stop by and shoot the bull in the afternoon.

4 days on the water well spent. Brought home our limits without too much trouble. Wasted a little too much time fishing N of the bank, but got into them once we went banking. 130-140FOW treated us well Sat and sun. Riggers and wire dipsies were the best producers.
Never fished the bay for eyes but did very well on the northerns in the canal. No big fish plenty but plenty of action on the 24-28″.
